SUBSTANCE: method of obtaining magnesium hydride powders in high-frequency arc plasma consists in dispersing the Mg powder in the presence of the Ni catalyst in a flow of helium and hydrogen in high-frequency arc plasma, where synthesis is performed in a chamber, which has a metal partition, dividing the chamber volume into an area of formation of magnesium particles, in which helium is supplied, and an area of hydrogenation of magnesium particles, into which hydrogen is supplied, and synthesis is carried out under pressure of helium and hydrogen from 0.12 to 0.6 MPa.

EFFECT: increased quantity of hydrogenated magnesium in the process of plasmochemical synthesis due to mechanical separation of the area of formation of magnesium particles from the area, in which hydrogenation takes place.
