FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in hydrogen power engineering. Method of producing magnesium hydride for a chemical hydrogen generator involves mechanical activation of magnesium metal by grinding with absorption of mechanical energy from 5 to 10 kJ/g. Further, chemical magnesium metal activation is performed by heating to temperature of 350–400 °C at pressure of 0.2–1.0 mbar. Activated magnesium metal is held in hydrogen medium at temperature of 350–400 °C and pressure of 15–20 bar for 30–90 minutes. Then, activated magnesium metal is held in hydrogen medium at temperature of 350–400 °C and pressure of 25–35 bars for 120-150 minutes.
EFFECT: invention allows to avoid application of complex and expensive process equipment and expensive catalysts, to reduce labor intensity of technological process and to reduce power consumption during production of metal-hydride fuel for chemical hydrogen generator.
