FIELD: testing technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices of non-destructive control of structure and defects of metal products and can be used in preparing samples for testing and setting the units of ultrasonic control of flat products (USC). The sample is made in the form of a sheet containing artificial defects. To control the base metal the sample contains the following groups of defects: a group of defects in the form of transverse grooves for checking operativity of all channels of the units, a group of centre drillings to confirm the sensitivity of on the width of flat products, a group of centre drillings to confirm the sensitivity to defects located at different depths on thickness of flat products, a group of rectangular grooves to simulate different area sizes of defects, which enables to cover the entire size range, a group of centre drillings to simulate defect unacceptable in length, group of centre drillings to simulate defect unacceptable in width, groups to simulate clusters of defects unacceptable in the number of defects per unit of area of flat products, a group of centre drillings to simulate defects smaller than those recorded. To control the edges of the sheet: a group of centre drillings to determine the width of the area of edge, the group of centre drillings to determine the size of the dead zones on the transverse edges of the sheet, a group of centre drillings to determine the sensitivity to defects located at different depths, a group of centre drillings to simulate an unacceptable number of defects per unit of length of the edge, a group of centre drillings to simulate in the edge of the defect unacceptable in length, a group of centre drillings to simulate in the edge of the defect unacceptable in the width, a group of centre drillings to simulate defects unacceptable on the area in the edge.

EFFECT: opportunity to carry out a set of works on testing and setting the units of ultrasonic control, to test the operativity of hardware part of the unit and the software system, as well as to test the operativity of the lines of converters and the control system of installation of the sheet edges and the base metal per a single pass of the test sheet.
