FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrodynamic decelerator and to method of deceleration of universal motor with excitation winding and armature. Universal motor allows changeover from motor mode to deceleration mode. Note here that at motor mode said armature and excitation winding are supplied by supply line AC. While at deceleration, armature is short-circuited to supply said excitation winding with supply circuit alternating voltage. At first phase of deceleration mode, excitation winding can be supplied with AC with voltage with frequency of supply line. At the next phase of deceleration mode, excitation winding can be supplied with AC with voltage that features frequency lower than that of supply line.
EFFECT: better deceleration of armature and operating conditions for contact elements.
