FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to dendrometry and can be used in indication of natural environment, and namely stem base part of trees growing under different environmental conditions. The invention can also be used at development of measures for improvement of quality of forest and non-forest stand of trees considering laws of the stem shape of accountable trees as to diameter depending on height and azimuth of its measurement. The method involves diameter measurement at the height of 1.3 m above soil level in two mutually perpendicular north-south and east-west directions for study of influence of cardinal points. Diameter measurements are carried out as per the specified azimuth directions at different heights above soil surface. Each azimuth direction is assumed as a separate generatrix of a stem base. Then, as per measured diameter values, statistical modelling is performed to determine the law of variation of each generatrix of a stem base. As per parameters of the determined laws, analysis of parameters of an accountable tree stem base is performed and compared with objects around the growth area, which influence on development and growth of an accountable tree.

EFFECT: method provides for improvement of accuracy of measured diameter values of a stem at different heights at one and the same azimuth value of direction of diameter measurement, as well as improvement of functional capabilities of a stem base analysis as per determined laws of generatrixes as to different azimuth directions.
