FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: magnetic fluid shaft seal provides for improved reliability of the seal due to reduced friction between the rotating shaft and brushes. The seal comprises an annular nonmagnetic case, a magnetic system consisting of a permanent magnet, nonmagnetic packing sleeve separating two pole attachments, an annular compound magnetic conductor and magnetic fluid forming a closed magnetic circuit which creates magnetic plugs in a gap. The pole attachments turned to the shaft are made as brushes with their wires being the concentrators of the magnetic field strength. The nonmagnetic packing sleeve with filling channels provided inside is used to separate the pole attachments. The temperature of the magnetic fluid is reduced by the cooling system. Part of the seal case and the compound magnetic conductor is demountable providing for free access to the permanent magnet, brushes and channel for seal filling by magnetic fluid without complete disassembly of the seal.
EFFECT: improved processability of filling by magnetic fluid, assembly, installation and maintenance of a seal.
