FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: magnetic fluid shaft seal includes housing from non-magnetic material with annular magnetic system inside it, which includes constant magnet with pole projections and brushes consisting of several rows of elastic magnetoconductive metal wires rigidly fixed on them, enveloping the shaft and forming together with it a gap filled with magnetic fluid. Annular slots of rectangular cross section are made on pole projections on the shaft side; elastic magnetoconductive metal wires are made in each brush so that they are tightly adjacent to each other; brush attachment on pole projection is made on side surface of slot, and a gap is formed between the other side of brush and the other side surface of slot; at that, free ends of wires of brushes are radially directed towards the shaft.
EFFECT: invention allows increasing operating life of magnetic fluid seal and reducing the requirements for shaft rotation speed.
