FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to magnetic liquid shaft seals. The magnetic shaft seal has a permanent magnet, polar attachments, magnetic liquid in a clearance and a bearing unit. The polar attachments are rigidly joined to each other using a non-magnetic bushing and with the housing of the bearing unit, mounted on a compactible shaft. The magnetic system is enclosed in a detachable case. In the working condition, the permanent magnet and polar attachments are enclosed in a case, made from non-magnetic material, and during storage, they are enclosed in a case, made from magnetically conductive material. The case, made form magnetically conductive material has a ring-shaped groove, the depth of which determines magnetic field strength in the operating clearance.
EFFECT: increased the retaining power and reliability of magnetic liquid seals.
