SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machining of metal articles, particularly, to their hardening by changing of their physical structure and can be used for production of dispersion-strengthened structure of transmission gear metal alloy. Proposed method comprises positioning of metal part, excitation of electromagnetic field to heat the part and acting by inert gas to part surface during electromagnetic field excitation to create the inverse temperature gradient between the part inner and outer zones for production of heat treated part. This part is placed inside the chamber accommodating inductor to excite electromagnetic field and cooling circular manifold. Device includes chamber, inductor and inert gas feed system with cooling circular manifold comprising multiple nozzles directed to the part and arranged inside inductor coil.
EFFECT: higher strength and wear resistance, decreased weight.
