FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing propylene oxide. The disclosed method includes reacting propylene with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a catalyst to obtain a mixture (GI) containing propylene oxide, unreacted propylene and oxygen; separating the propylene oxide from the mixture (GI) to obtain a mixture (GII) containing propylene and oxygen; and adding hydrogen to the mixture (GII) and reducing oxygen contained in the mixture (GII) at least partially by reacting with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst containing copper in elementary and/or oxide form on a support, where the copper is present on the support in amount of 30-80 wt % with respect to the weight of the whole catalyst, calculated as CuO.
EFFECT: efficient removal of oxygen from the mixture GII with minimal propylene losses.
