FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method includes dissolving a starting salt in water and obtaining a saturated salt solution at 25±3°C, heating the solution to 40-50°C and adding not more than 50% of the starting salt dissolved at 25±3°C, cooling to 4±2°C and then to -18±2°C until the solution completely freezes, then thawing at room temperature of 25±3°C to form monocrystals of the starting serotonin salt and separating the mother solution by decantation. The starting salt used is serotonin adipate or serotonin creatinine sulphate monohydrate. The method enables to obtain transparent lamellar crystals of serotonin adipate with average size of 0.15×0.12×0.05 mm (±0.02 mm in each plane), serotonin creatinine sulphate monohydrate with average size of 0.30×0.20×0.08 mm without serotonin degradation features.

EFFECT: enabling the investigation of the internal structure and conformational features of serotonin in a solid phase.
