FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to clinical biochemistry and can be used for rapid determination of cholesterol in immune complexes (CIC). A precipitate of immune complexes containing multiple modified low-density lipoproteins from human serum is prepared by treatment with a 0.01 M tris-HCl buffer containing 8.3 PEG 3350, 3.3% PVP 12600 and 0.15 NaCl, pH 7.4, in a ratio of 1:1.2. Samples are incubated for 10 min at room temperature and aggregates of the immune complexes containing mmLPNP are separated by centrifuging at 6000 rpm for 5 min at 23°C. The precipitate is thoroughly decanted, dissolved in a buffer without PEG and PVP. Cholesterol content is determined using a Cholesterol reactant kit and if content of CIC is more than 8.3 mg/dl, a high level is ascertained.
EFFECT: invention increases the accuracy of quantitative determination of CIS, enables to conduct extensive screening for detecting atherosclerosis at both the preclinical stage and for monitoring the effectiveness of therapy.
