FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mass spectrometry and specifically to ion sources with a soft ionisation method by electrospraying test solutions in a non-homogeneous electrostatic field at atmospheric pressure, and can be widely used in mass spectrometry, ion mobility spectrometry when solving tasks in organic and bioorganic chemistry, immunology, medicine, diagnosis of diseases, biochemical research, pharmaceutics, analyses in proteomics, metabolomics and criminal science. The method is characterised by the vertical orientation of the liquid meniscus in space, from the vertex of which charged micro-droplets are emitted in a non-homogeneous electrostatic field and counter-current flow of the background gas is organised under normal conditions. The counter-current flow of the background gas under normal conditions eliminates excess unsprayed solution (liquid) formed on the outer side of the capillary from the spraying region, without affecting stability of spraying and monodispersion of charged micro-droplets.
EFFECT: obtaining a stream of charged micro-droplets by electrospraying for high volume velocities of test solutions of substances without forming large droplets for the entire duration of spraying under normal conditions, without recourse to heating the gas carrier, which significantly simplifies the process of obtaining a stable and monodispersed stream of charged micro-droplets in a wide range of volume velocities of streams of the sprayed liquid and therefore stable ionic current of the analysed substances transmitted to an analyser.
