FIELD: physics, navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio navigation and can be used in aircraft instrument landing systems. The method includes emitting, from a point with known coordinates, horizontally linearly polarised electromagnetic waves; receiving the electromagnetic waves on-board an aircraft in a lateral direction with respect to the direction of flight; and determining the pitch angle from measured amplitudes of in-phase orthogonally linearly polarised components of the received signal. This enables to prevent constant accumulation of measurement errors and insensitivity to overloading arising in a non-steady flight mode.
EFFECT: high accuracy.
