FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in obtaining products for optical glass melting. The method of producing pure calcium carbonate includes carbonising an aqueous suspension of calcium hydroxide with carbon dioxide gas. The carbon dioxide is used with 25-30% molar excess relative to the stoichiometric amount of calcium hydroxide. The carbon dioxide is passed through the calcium hydroxide suspension at a rate of 15-20 l/h. The obtained calcium carbonate suspension is filtered and dried at 100-110°C.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain calcium carbonate with content of basic substance of 99,80-99,88 wt % and output of 95,0-96,0%.
