FIELD: production of composite materials.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a multilayer nanocomposite wear-resistant coating deposited on a working part of a cutting tool. Said coating contains alternating layers of diamond-like carbon and nitride of titanium and aluminum with content of not more than 40 at.% of each metal. Layer of diamond-like carbon is a layer obtained by pulse-arc sputtering of a graphite cathode. Said layer of titanium and aluminum nitride is a nanocomposite layer obtained by arc sputtering of a pressed cathode, consisting of titanium and aluminum with content of 50 at.% of each element, and contains compounds of said elements with nitrogen. Obtained multilayer nanocomposite coating contains from 10 to 30 bilayers with thickness from 80 to 100 nm. Thickness of said multilayer coating is 800–2,500 nm.

EFFECT: higher wear resistance of a working part of a cutting tool.
