FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: device for outputting an acoustic signal comprises a speaker for converting an input electrical signal into an output acoustic signal, a connection part designed for alternate connection with a first adapter or a second adapter. The first adapter is designed to be placed in the ear canal of a user and the second adapter is designed to be placed in the auricle of the user. The device also includes a regulator for regulating the sound pressure level generated by the output acoustic signal on the eardrum of the user depending on whether the first or the second adapter is connected to the connection part, wherein said regulator includes a detector for detecting if the first adapter or second adapter is connected to the connection part, and is configured to filter, in response to said detection, the input electrical signal transmitted to the speaker to control the output acoustic signal of the speaker depending on whether the first or second adapter is connected to the connection part. The method comprises converting an input electrical signal into an output acoustic signal, regulating the sound pressure level depending on the type of adapter and filtering the signal transmitted to the speaker.
EFFECT: easier use of the device and high quality of the audio signal.
