FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, and in particular to methods for the continuous casting of varietal billets of metals and alloys. Continuously cast ingot is formed with a cross section in the form of an isosceles trapezium, the larger base of which lies on the face of the ingot with the minimum longitudinal radius, and the smaller base – on the face with the maximum longitudinal radius, ratio h/H=r/R=k, where k=0.72–0.98, is performed. Ingot is unbent into a rectilinear continuous-cast billet and combined with compression on the lateral sides of the trapezoid in a pair of vertical rolls of the withdrawal-straightening unit a rectangular cross-section of the billet is formed.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at improving the quality of continuously cast billets.
