FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: cast blank is produced by electroslag remelting (ESR) of the dismounted worn rail of the same type and dimension, for example, P65. The design length of the spent electrode from the dismounted worn rail is preliminarily determined by calculation. The said cast blank is cast with the cross-section profile similar to the profile of the cross section of the rolled rail, with the last exceedance by the value of the uniform allowance along the perimeter of the cross-section contour of the rail profile. The cast blank heated to 930÷960°C is rolled in a rolling mill by four rolling runs in four roll universal grooves with common drawing Ψ=1.80÷2.15, rolling speed Vrol=0.3÷1.5 m/s, and temperature of rolling end of 830÷860°C, with further water/air cooling at the rate of 30÷50°C/s of the rail head by the nozzles installed directly at the output of the finishing groove of the rolling mill.
EFFECT: invention increases the quality of rails upon decreasing of common production expenses, and reduced volume of the production batch.
