SUBSTANCE: invention relates to subsurface radar and particularly to devices for determining the location and shape of inhomogeneities and inclusions in building structures. The apparatus for probing building structures comprises a portable computer, a building structure surface, an electronic unit, an antenna unit, a high-frequency generator, a controller of processing and inputting of data into the computer, a high-frequency signal receiver, a transmitting antenna, a subsurface object, a flip-flop, a correlator, two amplifiers, a delay line, a subtractor unit, an integrator, a divider unit, a comparator unit, a reference voltage generating unit, an analogue-to-digital converter, an interface, a switch, a liquid crystal display, an audio indicator, an automatic delay control unit, a multiplier, a low-pass filter, a subsurface object depth indicator and a differentiating unit.
EFFECT: high accuracy of measuring depth of subsurface objects in building structures by using a correlation function derivative.
