SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication. The method for carrier frequency activation includes the following steps: receiving a medium access control protocol data unit (MAC PDU) from the network side, where the MAC PDU carries an identifier of the carrier frequency to be activated and/or deactivated, in a MAC control element (CE), and denoting the type of information on activation and/or deactivation in a logical channel identifier (LCID) of the MAC subheader, corresponding to the media access control element; activating and/or deactivating the carrier frequency configured at the network side according to the type of information on activation and/or deactivation, denoted in the LCID of the MAC subheader and MAC CE content corresponding to the MAC subheader.

EFFECT: improved activation of a specified carrier frequency in order to save user equipment power.
