SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of recording images in a wide illumination range for recording images in selected radiation spectral ranges, e.g., in the infrared or ultraviolet (UV) range. The apparatus for recording images in a wide illumination range includes a luminance amplifier consisting of two biplanar-type electro-optical converters with microchannel amplification, connected such that the output of the first electro-optical converter is optically mated with the input of the second electro-optical converter, a CCD array with frame transfer, optically mated with the output of the luminance amplifier, having a maximum pixel size and configured such that the maximum of the spectral characteristic of the radiation received by the array matches the maximum of the spectral characteristic of the signal received from the output of the luminance amplifier, as well as a power supply unit and a control unit which is configured to generate different power supply schemes for the luminance amplifier, which includes supplying both dc voltage and pulsed voltage to luminance amplifier.

EFFECT: wider controlled dynamic range of intensity of recorded images and high sensitivity threshold of the device and improved signal-to-noise ratio for the obtained images.
