METHOD OF MICROINVASIVE TRANSVITREAL SUTURE FIXATION OF RETINAL DEFECT EDGES Russian patent published in 2014 - IPC A61F9/07

Abstract RU 2535783 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ophthalmology and can be applied for surgical treatment of retinal detachment with its defects on large area, as well as with multiple, chaotically located ruptures with inverted edges, in case if there are difficulties in mobilisation and adaptation of detached edge of retina to underlying membranes, as well as if there is threat for tamponing substance to get under retina through present ruptures in the process of operation. For suture fixation, performed ab interno, used is straight needle atraumatic with cuts, preventing spontaneous return of needle into vitreous body cavity after puncture of eye sclera, with absorbable thread in combination with microneedleholder, which has tube diameter 0.5-0.65 mm, is 30-32 mm long; with central depression in form of 0.15-0.17 mm wide and 0.05-0.06 mm groove with cuts passing along internal surface of both branches; in working position, when branches of microneedleholder are joined, tunnel, in which straight needle is fixed and held, and whose dimensions make it possible to realise application of said technology through standard sclerotomic port 25, 23 G, is formed.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to reduce trauma, reduce risk of recurrence.
