SUBSTANCE: invention relates to operation of vehicle incorporating drive and used gas exhaust system with at least one controlled heater brought in contact with used gas. Proposed method comprises the following steps: (a) determination of at least one working parameters 6 of exhaust system; (b) determination of at least one effect 7 of the heater; (c) comparison of said effect 7 with target parameters 8 of exhaust system; (d) activation of said heater to bring target parameter 6 to compliance with target parameter 8.
EFFECT: efficient application of exhaust system heater.
