SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and an apparatus for accessing a service by a mobile station. The method of accessing a service by a mobile station comprises: receiving a service request carrying virtual access point name (VAPN) or a service request not including access point name (APN) transmitted from a mobile station, by gateway GPRS support node (GGSN) or a next level gateway of the GGSN; performing a deep packet inspection (DPI) processing on the service request, and identifying service type; sending, by the GGSN or the gateway, the service request to an external data network corresponding to the service type identified by DPI processing.
EFFECT: providing access to different types of data transmission services of mobile communication without changing the APN configuration by the mobile station.
