FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: system includes two eddy current sensors for rail track irregularities, signal cross correlation calculation unit, scaling unit, identification unit, memory unit, computing unit, identification code signal receiver, decoder, rail vehicle motion control unit, identification code signal transmitter and rail track freeness and operability monitoring unit. On sleepers of rail track sections with known coordinates groups of constant magnets are placed which magnets are located along one rail of track. Each constant magnet is fixed on corresponding sleeper in places where their magnetic fields induce in receiver coil of induction coupling channel signal processing unit. Information about sequence of location and distance between receiver coils and about coordinates of utmost magnets in each group with assigned to it identification number is written in memory unit of on-board rail vehicle motion control equipment provided with pickup coils.

EFFECT: higher train-handling capacity at failures in separate subsystems of rail vehicle position determination.
