FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of articles from carbon-containing materials and is meant to protect said articles from oxidation in oxidative medium conditions at high temperatures. The invention can be used in metallurgical industry and in other industries, including aircraft engineering. The method includes forming on the surface of an article a slurry coating based on a composition consisting of a mixture of powders of a compound(s) inert to silicon under siliconisation process parameters and an element(s) and/or compound(s) active with respect to said silicon, which form, upon reaction with said silicon, heat-resistant carbides and/or silicides and/or ternary compounds, and a temporary binder, heating the article in a vacuum in a closed reactor volume, holding and cooling in silicon vapour. Heating the article from 1300 to 1600°C and holding at 1600-1650°C is carried out at silicon vapour temperature which is higher than the temperature of the article, heating from 1600-1650°C and holding at 1700-1800°C is carried out at temperature of the article which is equal to silicon vapour temperature, and cooling is carried out at temperature of the article, which is higher than silicon vapour temperature, or when said temperatures are equal when temperature of the article reaches 1600°C.

EFFECT: high heat resistance of coatings and purity of the surface thereof.
