FIELD: weapons and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: device for shell to move with rotation in smooth-bore gun is a portion of gun barrel or an attachment to barrel with side slots arranged at an angle to the barrel channel. Powder gases pushing a shell along the barrel channel and reaching the device due to the slots come out from these slots generating at the same time side thrust for the shell. The shell makes axial rotational movement.
EFFECT: simplifying production of gun barrels, improving barrels operation life, improving accuracy and range of fire, higher penetration capability of a shell or a bullet.
