FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: method for long-term storage of microalgae refers to applied hydrobiology and algology. The method is applicable for the long-term storage of microalgae in scientific and educational institutes, as well as in biotechnological industry for museum culture strain storage. In the method involving transforming the microalgae into anhydrobiosis, keeping the microalgae in the dehydrated state, removing from anhydrobiosis; the algae aredehydrated at the stage of steady-state growth at temperature 30-60°C to residual cell moisture 8-14%. Dry unicellular algae are reactivated at illumination 2 klx by moisturising with a nutrient medium diluted in distilled water in ratio 1:1, at temperature 30°C; 2 hours later, the reaction cultures are added with culture media of the same concentration and temperature. The dehydrated cultures are stored in a sealed package in the dark environment at an ambient temperature of 15-20°C.

EFFECT: main advantage of the declared method for the long-storage of microalgae consists in simplicity and reliability, as well as in the fact that the presented method is optimally close to the natural environment, cost-efficient and applicable in biological, scientific and educational purposes.
