FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to reduction of toxic emissions from an internal combustion engine. A system for treatment of exhaust gases generated in an engine with spark ignition includes: a hydrocarbon (HC) trap, which comprises a molecular sieve that absorbs hydrocarbons and a consumable component that accumulates oxygen (OA). The specified OA component is selected so that it loses some ability to accumulate oxygen at temperature below working temperature of the material that absorbs hydrocarbons; a trifunctional catalyst (TFC). The system comprises a through pipeline for direction of a flow of exhaust gases, which connects the engine with spark ignition and the TFC, and a bypass pipeline comprising an inlet unit, which connects the through pipeline and the HC trap, the specified inlet unit is located upstream the HC trap and TFC, and an outlet unit, which connects the HC trap and the through pipeline, besides, the outlet unit is located downstream the HC trap and TFC.
EFFECT: provision of board diagnostics system detection at relatively low temperatures for use in HC traps located in a bypass layout.
