SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preparing NOx trap composition, comprising: (a) heating an iron-containing zeolite in the presence of an inert gas containing less than 1 vol. % oxygen and an organic compound to produce iron / zeolite calcined in a reducing atmosphere; (b) adding a palladium compound to the iron / zeolite calcined in a reducing atmosphere to form Pd-Fe / zeolite; and (c) calcining the Pd-Fe / zeolite at 400–600 °C in the presence of an oxygen-containing gas to produce NOx trap composition; wherein the organic compound is an organic polymer and / or a biopolymer. Invention also relates to NOx trap composition obtained by this method, containing 1 wt. % Pd and 1 wt. % Fe; to NOx trap, containing this composition applied to a metal or ceramic substrate for treating the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine; an exhaust system containing the claimed NOx trap. Method for treating exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine includes contacting the exhaust gas with NOx trap at a temperature below 250 °C. Also disclosed is a cold start catalyst, comprising NOx trap and a supporting catalyst in the form of a platinum group metal containing one or more platinum group metals and one or more inorganic oxide carriers.
EFFECT: technical result is accumulation of NOx at a low temperature, that is, ensuring cold start of the engine.
