FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises processing received pulsed signals, calculating decision threshold values and setting said values in threshold devices of detection channels; setting up two detection channels to process the received signals - an optimum channel and a median filtering channel, operating independent of each other; in the optimum channel, averaging incoming reports of received signals, and in the median filtering channel, processing said reports with a median filter; further, for each detection channel, calculating the difference in reports and comparing said difference with the decision threshold value; using a constant as a decision threshold value for the optimum channel, said constant being defined empirically and depending on the slope of the fronts of the detected pulsed signals, and for the median filtering channel - a variable which depends on the noise level (noise dispersion) in the channels; making a decision on presence or absence of signals, wherein each of the received signals is considered detected if it is detected in both detection channels.

EFFECT: improved detection characteristics of secondary radar system signals with low signal-to-noise ratio while maintaining measurement accuracy of parameters thereof.
