SUBSTANCE: invention is referred to a reformer tube with a variable wall thickness intended for gas reforming in the process of direct iron recovery. The tube comprises an axially-aligned tubular structure made of a metallic material. The axially-aligned tubular structure comprises a flanged section, the upper section, the medium section and the lower one. The upper section contains the first area having the first wall thickness, the second section having the second wall thickness and the third section having the transient thickness and the latter connects the first area to the second one. At that the first, second and third sections have the constant inner diameter.
EFFECT: invention ensures prolonged operation at current requirements to the temperature or similar operation in conditions of a high temperature.
