SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of increasing the efficiency of lamb selection by marker assessment at birth. A method of increasing the efficiency of selection of lambs by marker assessment at birth includes the following elements: determination of the type and size of the curl, live weight, wool clipping in physical weight, class composition and the degree of development of doggy hair in new-born animals.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to identify highly productive animals in the future and increase live weight by 3.1–7.3 kg (5.3–13.4%); wool sheared in physical weight by 0.4–0.5 kg (7.2–9.1%); the number of animals in Elite and I grading classes by 5.3–18.1% and 6.0–15.4%.
