FIELD: physics, computer engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a solid-state image reading device, which includes analogue-to-digital conversion units. An image sensor comprises a plurality of sets of unit pixels which output a pixel signal based on electric charge generated by photoelectric conversion, and a conversion unit which converts the pixel signal into a digital signal. A reference signal source generates reference signals and transmits the generated signals to the conversion unit through signal lines. The conversion unit of each set comprises a comparator which compares the reference signal strength with the pixel signal strength, a count circuit which measures time based on comparison processing, a selection circuit which selects from among the signal lines a line to be selectively connected to the input of the comparator, and a switch which selectively connects the selected line to the input of the comparator and selectively connects a load to one of the unselected signal lines.

EFFECT: enabling comparison of a pixel signal with different reference signals to convert the pixel signal into a digital signal with high accuracy, coupled with an improved circuit scale.
