FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a sample preparation method for water bodies for determining hydrocarbon impurities by a chromatographic method using solid-phase microextraction and can be used to measure concentration of trace impurities in natural and waste water in environmental monitoring. The method includes carrying out solid-phase microextraction using a cartridge filled with Porapak Q or Tenax TA sorbent. Desorption of the analyte is carried out using micro-quantities (5-10 mcl) of a solvent - tetrachloromethane or acetone or toluene and centrifuging in a special micro-vial.
EFFECT: determining hydrocarbon impurities with concentration of less than 1 mcl/l and achieving a complete desorption process by using small amounts of solvent (5-10 mcl) and Porapak Q or Tenax TA adsorbent (2-5 mg), as well as centrifuging to separate the analyte from the adsorbent.
