FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: cutting plate features polygonal shape and includes two symmetrical opposite end surface and peripheral lateral surface located there between including alternating and connected surfaces, through bore extending between end surface, mid plane M of cutting plate parallel with end surfaces and crossing said through bore, cutting edges composed at intersection of end surfaces with peripheral side surface. Note here that said cutting edge comprises sections of major and minor cutting edges extending from elevated to recessed sections relative to plate mid plane M and to appropriate sections of peripheral surface. Tangential bearing surfaces are arranged between through bore and front surfaces of said major and minor cutting edges directed from therefrom inside end surfaces. End surfaces feature concaved octagon with angle on top view. Peripheral side surface comprises with side surfaces connecting end surfaces, mutually parallel and perpendicular to mid plane M on top view and located in pairs relative to mirror axis of end surfaces. Major cutting edges are located at intersection of the first pair of side surfaces and second pair of side surfaces makes the tangential bases of cutting plates. Note here that planes extending through said first and second pairs of side surfaces make a parallelogram on top view. Auxiliary cutting edges are arranged in diagonal at intersection of third pair of side surfaces with end surfaces arranged at acute angle to said second pair on top view. Note also that elevated sections of end surfaces are located at major inner diagonal of octagons on top view beyond the field of parallelograms composed by first and second pairs of side surfaces. Recessed section of auxiliary cutting edges are located at intersection of fourth pair of side surfaces with third pair of side surfaces and end surfaces of cutting plate. Recessed sections of major cutting edges are located at intersection of first and second pairs of side surfaces.
EFFECT: higher efficiency at cutting of super hard materials.
