FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machining of materials by cutting. Cutting plate has at least two cutting edges formed at intersection of top and side surfaces. In top view along axis of symmetry cutting plate has the shape of parallelogram. On main side surfaces along sections of main cutting edges there are side support surfaces adjacent to lower support surface, and in lower part of cutting plates between fastening hole and auxiliary side surfaces there are recesses with at least three inner side surfaces. Recesses are located on the bottom view of the cutting plate so that the centres of the maximum imaginary inscribed in them are located on a circle equidistant to the fastening hole, diameter of which is greater than diameter of maximum possible inscribed in lower support surface of circle, but smaller than diameter of maximum possible insertion into projection of cutting plate on plane passing through lower support surface of circle. High-speed cutter is made with possibility of installation in its sockets of cutting plate of reduced design.

EFFECT: higher strength and reliability of cutting plates fixation in milling cutter sockets.
