FIELD: physics, navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sonar and is intended for compensating for the masking effect of reverberation interference on detection of underwater targets during sonar detection in conditions with significant interference, typical for shallow water areas. To compensate for the masking effect of reverberation interference on detection of probing signals reflected from underwater targets, sounding of the water area with probing signals is accompanied with continuous recording on a monitor screen of the response of the medium to the probing signals while forming on the monitor screen a background of reverberation interference in distance-time coordinates in the form of horizontal scanning of the image on the display field, synchronised with the transmission times of the probing signal, similar to television-type line-by-line scanning. Signals reflected from moving underwater targets will correspond to the emergence of inclined lines superimposed on the interference background.
EFFECT: reducing the masking effect of reverberation interference on detection of underwater targets during sonar detection, simultaneously observing multiple targets in an irradiation sector and determining movement parameters thereof in complex interference conditions of shallow water areas, and monitoring passage of probing signals through the irradiated area.
