FIELD: physics, navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydrolocation and can be used for submarine detection in sea costal zones as well as in rivers, channels and lakes. Proposed method comprises wave probing and reception of probing signals reflected from targets. Note here that probing signals are sent from the zone of observation, while reflected signals are received by at least three spaced apart receivers that form a control zone with known coordinates, distanced from radiator and located in zone of expected target appearance. It comprises also recording the time of arrival of probing signals reflected from targets to receivers. Note that target location in control zone is determined using computer simulation allowing for aforesaid time of arrival counted down from the moment of radiation with due allowance for sound velocity in water and known position of radiator and receivers.
EFFECT: submarine detection in shallow waters by simple and cheap means.
