METHOD FOR SELECTING THERAPEUTIC APPROACH TO RECTOCELE Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC A61B5/00 

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: patient is examined to select a therapeutic approach to rectocele. Medical history data are taken into consideration: rate and rhythm of defecation, evacuation function, accompanying anorectal pathology, length of the disease. A clinical persistence of rectocele over the last month is assessed. Patient's physical examination results are taken into consideration: degree of rectocele, state of the closing apparatus of the rectus, state of the pelvic floor. Nine parameters and results are assigned with numerical values 1 or 0 to be summed up. The derived sum is taken as a selection coefficient of the therapeutic approach to rectocele (K). If the coefficient K<5, conservative treatment is preferred, whereas K≥5 requires surgical management to be applied.

EFFECT: method enables providing higher clinical effectiveness in the patients suffering from rectocele by increasing the selection reliability of the therapeutic approach by individual indications.
