SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication engineering and can be used to measure asymmetry in propagation delay of a first and a second link which connect a first node with a second node of a communication network. The delay due to acknowledgement of the first link is measured (101). The delay due to acknowledgement can be measured by transmitting (102) a test signal from the first node to the second node through the second link and receiving a response to the test signal from the second node through the first link. The method further includes measuring (105) the delay due to acknowledgement of the second link. The delay due to acknowledgement can be measured by transmitting (106) a test signal to the second node through the second link and receiving a response to the test signal from the second node through the second link. The difference in propagation delay of the first link relative to the second link is determined (109) using the measured delays due to acknowledgement of the first link and the second link.
EFFECT: high signal transmission speed.
