SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication engineering and can be used in optical communication systems. Method of distributing information of clock synchronization in optical communication network comprizes: receiving (2) input message of clock synchronization in the first said network element, wherein the clock input message contains the message identifier of clock synchronization and correction field; insert (3) of clock synchronization message identifier in the service information frames optical channel and insert (4) of input message of clock synchronization in working data frames of optical channel; transmission (5) of service information frames of optical channel and working frame of the optical channel data through the first network element over a network in the second said network element and through the second network element and determination (6) travel time of synchronization message identifier through each of the network elements; and in the second network element update (7) of correction field of input message of clock synchronization with the help of said passage time to generate output of clock synchronization message.
