FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: boron-based material having a deformation stability of ΔL/L0=3.0÷7.5% at 600°C is produced by conducting a reaction of sodium silicate Na2O(SiO2)n in an aqueous solution of caustic soda with trimethylammonium decahydroclosodecaborate (Me3NH)2B10H10. The reaction solution is boiled until trimethylamine formed by the reaction of caustic soda and (Me3NH)2B10H10 is removed completely, then dried with increasing the temperature to 300°C; that makes prepare the material described by chemical formula: [Na2O(SiO2)n]m[Na2B10H10]k, wherein: n is an initial sodium silicate characteristics via a silicate module, which varies within the range of 2.5÷3.0; m:k=7.0÷1.9; a decahydroclosodecaborate anion binds to sodium atoms both of sodium silicate, and sodium silicate by multicentre reactions resultant in forming spatial supramolecular structures.

EFFECT: producing the neutron-protective material with no high energy costs and additional equipment.
