FIELD: testing technology.
SUBSTANCE: device and method of study of rock samples, based on the phenomenon of acoustic emission. For implementation of the study of the rock sample the sample under study following the claimed method is placed in the claimed device, comprising in its structure a pressure chamber and one or more acoustic sensors attached to the rock sample under study, with the ability to transmit signals. The chamber comprises a first chamber, the pressure in which is raised to the first predetermined pressure value, and a second chamber in which the pressure is raised to a second predetermined pressure value. The rock sample is placed in the pressure chamber so that a first part of the sample is subjected with the action of the first pressure, and the second part of the sample is subjected with the second pressure. The second pressure is increased to the threshold value; the sample is maintained at a pressure threshold value for a certain time period and then the pressure is reduced. The acoustic sensors detect one or more acoustic events occurring in the rock sample. In some embodiments, the device is made with the ability to determine the spatial location and the direction of distribution of one or more acoustic events. The system comprises the device of the sample study, connected to the device of recording the information about the acoustic events.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of the results obtained by measuring rigidity of hard or superhard materials.
