SUBSTANCE: result is achieved owing to presence of a range of new units with interconnections thereof within the disclosed measuring device, as well as owing to radiation towards the underlying surface and receiving short radio pulse packets reflected from the underlying surface, which are converted in the receiver to bipolar video pulses whose amplitude fluctuates with a frequency defined by the Doppler frequency shift of signals, and ground velocity vector components are determined from the maximum of the cross-correlation function of spaced apart signals reflected from the underlying surface that are received by spaced apart antennae located on an aircraft, taking into account the shape of the antenna system.

EFFECT: broader functional capabilities, high accuracy of measuring the ground velocity vector of aircraft.
