FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: cast iron contains in wt %: C from 3.5 to 4.0, Si from 1.7 to 2.3, Mn below 0.2, Cr below 0.1, Mg from 0.04 to 0.06, Cu from 0.10 to 0.20, S from 0.01 to 0.02, Fe and inevitable admixtures - the rest. Method of cast iron manufacturing comprises melted metal modification and casting, at that modification is performed by the modification alloy containing sulphur by two stages, at that at the first stage the modification alloy containing S is added to the melt before casting, and at the second stage the modification alloy containing S is added to the flow of the melted metal during casting.

EFFECT: keeping of the superior mechanical properties and high strength of the cast iron at low temperature upon significant decreasing of its cost.
