SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture. The invention relates to a repellent composition containing as an active ingredient at least one type of a compound selected from a heterocyclic compound of formula (1): 
and an auxiliary substance, as well as a method of deterring animals using the repellent composition.
EFFECT: disclosed compositions based on said compounds have an odour which induces fear in animals without animals adapting to the odour.
