FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method of producing a population of insulin-producing cells or a population β-cells of pancreas, having reduced number of Ki67-positive cells. Method comprises treating a population of endocrine precursor cells or cells at a later stage of differentiation with an FGFR1 inhibitor, which is 1-[2-amino-6-(3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)pyrido(2,3-d) pyrimidin-7-yl]-3-tert-butylurea, E-3810, PD-173074 or its salt. Produced cell population contains Ki67-positive cells in amount of less than 3%.

EFFECT: obtained cells can be used as a cell drug for treating diabetes mellitus.
