FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to a method for producing C1-C4 alkyl nitrile, which can find application in the synthesis of oxalate. The method involves stages (a)-(c). The stage (a) involves first supplying nitrogen oxide and oxygen into reactor I, wherein they get contacted to a silica-alumina catalyst, and a reaction is conducted to produce flow I containing NO2 and NO residue. At the stage (b), flow I and C1-C4 alkanol is supplied into reactor II, wherein a reaction is conducted to produce flow II containing C1-C4 alkyl nitrile. The stage (c) involves separating flow II containing C1-C4 alkyl nitrile for producing C1-C4 alkyl nitrile. Reactor I represents a reactor with a fixed bed, whereas reactor II is a rotary centrifugal reactor. Nitrogen oxide at the stage (a) - NO or a gas mixture containing NO and one or more N2O3 and NO2, wherein the molar ratio of NO is more than that of NO2, if it is present, and the molar ratio of NO in nitrogen oxide to oxygen makes 4-25:1.
EFFECT: method enables producing high-selectivity C1-C4 alkyl nitrile.
